About Devin

We weep not for our Devin

But for the emptiness we now feel at his passing.

His memory still lingers, as the mist in the early morning dawn.

It might be a glimpse of his food bowl as we walk through the room,

the tinkling of a dog's collar that brings a flash of memory to your mind's eye

or that worn dog pillow that still has his indention in it.

But it's easy to suffice that although he is no longer with us in body,

when a dog lives to almost 15 years of age, his spirit and zest for life

will never leave your heart.

This is how it was with a dog I came to truly love in 8 short months.

On Colleen Fleury's website she wrote this about Devin:

I acquired Devin at the time when Katelin was so sick. I didn't know what was going to happen to her. All I knew was that I couldn't be without a Boxer. I desperately wanted another dog to train in Obedience and I wanted one with German working lines. I found what I was looking for from a breeder in North Carolina, Monica Hazel.

Devin is my best buddy and has turned out to be a pretty good working Boxer. He is very stubborn at times and how he performs in the ring totally depends on his mood at the time! If he is in a good mood, he can do wonderful and usually scores very well. If he is in a bad mood, look out! You never know what his mood will be until you walk into the ring.

He has won 5 Specialty High In Trials with scores all in the 190s. He completed his U. D. on 1/11/99 at 7 1/2 years old. He is now retired from competition but will still make appearances in the Veterans class, although with his energy he doesn't act like a veteran!

That's only one part of Colleen's story...see Devin's Story Page 2 for how I came to know and love this dog.
