He started sleeping in Colleen's room when she was home and in mine when she was working nights...we would just hold him and talk to him when he had seizures.  The seizures started coming on every couple of months and then he had a really bad one that he wasn't coming out of very well and had no control over his rear end. I was at work so Colleen called me so I could come home to say goodbye, she called her parents to let them know this would be his final trip to the vet. Well when we got to the vet and the vet looked at him, he said..."I don't think this dog is ready yet". The vet felt he had a herniated disc and the brain tumor so he gave him a mega dose of steroids and sent him home and said we would know something in about 72 hours. He should be back up or back at the vets. Well within 17 hours he was wanting to go out and play frizbee!! We had to help him up and down the steps after that episode but once he got on solid ground there was no stopping him. You had to force him to lie down as if ANYONE went into the kitchen, he was up and following to see if there might be a treat with his name on it...and there normally was. Well things went well for a couple more months, he was high maintenance as he had some accidents or he would fall over and couldn't get up as I have slick floors, so we ended up getting a big rug and every bath mat we owned and spread over the floor to give him traction. Martha Stewart would not have approved of our decor....but it gave Devin the ability to move around the house. Then a month or so later he had 2 real bad seizures in a row and Colleen called me, once again I was at work but I was in New Orleans and couldn't get home to say goodbye..However, I had this feeling it really wasn't goodbye...as he was a stubborn ole cuss. Colleen however was prepared for the end, once again she called her parents to let them know and headed to the vet. Devin was still out of it and just laying in her van when she went to the counter to tell them what she needed. She started crying and saying it was an emergency. They rushed out, scooped Devin up and before she knew it they had him hooked up to an IV and giving meds to bring him around. They kept him over night and when I got home the next evening and drove up my hill...there he was...in the yard chasing the dogs & playing frizbee!!!
